God

A consistent theme in the books of the Old Testament is that of God as the creator, covenant-maker and redeemer. He is no distant and aloof deity cloaked in obscurity. Rather he has made himself known in such a way that the whole life of his people is caught up in what he does to save them. God is alive and active, exercising his lordship over the history of the whole world to move it inexorably towards the goal he has ordained for it.

Graeme Goldsworthy, According to Plan, Pg. 172
