death

But the resurrection of Jesus not only that death is finally behind him (Rom. 6:9-10), but also that our death is decisively affected by his. Not only is our future resurrection anchored in his rising from the tomb, but we have already been raised with him (Eph. 2:6; Col. 3:1). That is why Luther could speak of the resurrection and ascension of Christ "as if all the graves were already empty."
