I remembered Luther's dictum about going against conscience being neither safe nor right. I didn't want to spoil their conscience, so i said, "Remember this is a play, and sometimes they do funny things in play." He said, "Calvin, I know your letters. You would never lead me into sin." [Calvin warned Reuben that, at one point, the actors and actresses wear leotards.] He said, "What's leotards?" I tried to explain leotards to an Amish person-it is very difficult to do this...
