Preaching

First, to preach the Word of God you must be convinced that it is the Word of God. Second, you must be ruthless with yourself in allowing it to speak. Third, you must keep in mind that its theme is God’s gracious redemption of sinners through the saving work of His Son. We do not truly preach if we do not preach Christ. fourth, to preach the Word of God you must study diligently. Fifth, you must have a clear theme that is supported by equally clear points. Sixth, you must use language that your people can understand. Seventh, you must employ the element of persuasion. Eighth, you must trust God to use His Word to do His work. Ninth, you must pray well. While true preaching is hard, genuine praying is harder. Tenth, you must think about what you are doing.
